Energy Consumption:
Thermomix uses less energy while cooking than most kitchen appliances. You only need one power source to cook a complete meal for the entire family. Below are some of the ways that the Thermomix can help you to save energy. The localized heating element in the base of the mixing bowl ensures that heat is delivered directly into the food, maximizing efficiency and minimizing thermal loss.

  • A dedicated Thick Film Technology generates an even heat distribution into the base of the bowl, while a low thermal mass enables quick reactions and allows the temperature to be changed quickly to prevent burning.
  • The direct heating system allows cooking times for most foods to be reduced thus saving both time and energy.
  • The precise temperature controls means that heating is accurately monitored and controlled throughout the entire cooking process.
  • Constant stirring of the contents of the bowl during cooking distributes heat efficiently and evenly and reduces the likelihood of burning.

Warranty:
Thermomix including the Varoma and Recipe Chip carry a 24 month warranty against faulty parts and workmanship when used in a domestic environment and a 12 month warranty against faulty parts and workmanship when used in a commercial environment.

Details:
  • The Thermomix TM31 is a German engineered machine manufactured in France
  • Culinary Team Canada has recently endorsed it and will be used it in their last world class competition, winning Gold.
  • Developed by over 120 Engineers and Technical experts.

Vorwerk is based in Wuppertal, Germany and is a privately owned family business. The German Thermomix factory is located in Cloyes in France. Their motto is ‘The best for your family’ and they have been manufacturing and promoting products to enhance family life, via in-home demonstrations, for more than 70 years.

Being the world’s smallest and smartest kitchen, Thermomix is Vorwerk’s star appliance.

With the Thermomix, it is fun!
It is designed for at-home use, but has become a favourite chef tool. The advantage for restaurant owners is that it can “make-to-order” food that usually takes one dedicated person in the kitchen to prepare. One specific example is Zabaglione. It takes 8 minutes from start to finish in the machine without anyone attending to it other then to put in the ingredients and set the time, temperature, and speed. One Thermomix machine can be used for a variety of processes, or dedicated to one specific purpose. Either way, it can be paid for in fairly short order by the time and grocery purchase money saved.
Functions: weighs, mills wheat to whipping egg whites, steams, fries, boils, bakes, juices, sautés, purees and so much more. The only way this machine is sold is through direct sales, and one must have a personal experience through a demonstration which is better than listing “can do’s” (three important settings: – time, temperature and speed – and it also measures weight up to 6 kilos).Without seeing it in action, it is very difficult to conceptualize. It is just that revolutionary. new_thermomix_TM5_4
SAFETY and BEST RESULTS TIPS
  • For complete operating and usage instructions, please read your TM5 Instruction Manual BEFORE using your Thermomix for the first time!
  • The machine must be level at all times to work properly and the power chord fully extended to enable proper working of the scale.
  • TIME TEMPERATURE SPEED (TTS): When cooking, remember this simple rule: 1st, set the TIMER, 2nd, set the TEMPERATURE and 3rd, set the SPEED. (If the timer isn’t set, there will be no heat.) This will prolong the life of your TM5.
  • ***Do not leave the blades out of the TM5 bowl after cleaning. Ensure that the base of the bowl is secured and the blades are locked in position properly before use. Never fill the bowl when blades are not in place. Never place the bowl back onto the base without the blades fully in place. Owners forget they have not put it back properly, start to use it by pouring liquid through the hole in the lid: this liquid gets into the motor and motherboard in the base of the machine and is not covered under warranty. It can cost 1000 to repair.
  • ONLY use the TM5 Spatula provided through the hole of the machine while the machine is running to keep the food close to the blades
  • Do not grate, mince or crush large frozen pieces of food like chocolate or Parmesan cheese: thaw first, or chop into smaller chunks: general rule of thumb is the chunks must be able to fit through the hole in the lid of the bowl, or I got by a rough 50 gram chunk for cheese and chocolate.
  • When steaming, make sure that the vents in the Varoma are not blocked with marinades or food pieces otherwise the steam will escape sideways, compromising the effectiveness of steaming.
  • Cleaning the Bowl: Half filling the bowl with warm water and ‘wash’ for 8 seconds on speed 8; rinse and drip dry. It is not necessary to dismantle the blades and bowl to clean effectively. (Do not soak blades in water or wash in dishwasher.)
  • When blending cooked foods like soups or sauces that are extremely hot, place a cloth on top of the MC and turn the speed dial up slowly to avoid hot liquid being forced out through the lid. Turbo will not work over 60C.
  • When boiling foods in the TM bowl, cover TMlid with the TM simmering basket to avoid splatter, never cover with a tea towel.
  • Warn children about the danger of touching the bowl during cooking or serving from the bowl as it will get very hot.
  • Any repair work required to your TM5 must be carried out by a qualified Vorwerk Service Technician. Do not attempt repairs yourself.

    Hello,
I came across your site and we are hoping to buy a Thermomix for use in the USA. Problem is the current. Do you know if people have bought the Canadian model ( is it different from European or Australian?) for use in the States. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer!

    Hi All,

I took my TM5 to the US from Italy since it was a wedding present. I bought a 3000W capacity tension converter for 220V->110V in order to use the TM5 in the US. Do you think it will be ok in your experience?

    Thank you in advance!

Speak with an electrician! It will diminish the life of your Thermomix. Better to sell it there and buy one here.
However, we do have 220 plugins her bu about 500 for an electrician to put it in.
I can’t advise about the other.

      Hi Ana,
If you buy a machine that is not 120v, you can get a transformer, but it will shorten the life of your machine. The best solution is to buy a machine from Mexico or Canada as both countries have the exact same electrical supply that the US does and both will work seamlessly in the US. This makes much more sense than buying a machine from Portugal. Hope this helps.
      Sincerely,
      Valerie

Picnic for Saturday! ‘My mom’s is better than Picnic for Saturday!

‘My mom’s is better than your moms!’

The quintessential summer salad that reminds me of growing up on the Alberta prairies. This salad says something had arrived, but most importantly, it says family.

Salad
-4 eggs, hard “boiled”
-5 pounds of potatoes, or so (2.3K)
-one bunch of small radishes, and if you pick them from your garden, one bunch
-one small bunch of chives
-2-3 stalks of celery
1 small onion

Dressing
-200g homemade mayonnaise
-20g Dijon mustard
-10g salt, or to taste
-5g pepper, or to taste (I like lots)

Soup for dinner! Summer Dinners are the perfect t Soup for dinner!

Summer Dinners are the perfect time to test out my creation of this homemade preserved Asparagus Soup Concentrate on the family and it was a slam dunk! It is not a fresh asparagus soup. It is a concentrate, re-constituted with added ingredients that enables a seemingly fresh homemade soup later in the year with little effort. The finished soup is a delicate blend of flavours with a more subtle asparagus note than a fresh asparagus soup would present, yet renders a compelling appeal that consistency evokes that same strong pleasurable response.

A Healthy dose of fresh! What better way to start A Healthy dose of fresh!

What better way to start your Sunday, than with a delicious toast with healthy homemade HOMEMADE Almond Milk!

The dry pulp is delicious. If you don’t mind the texture, leave it in. Many do. The above pulp is creamy and delicious. Throw it into another recipe. Don’t waste it! It is almonds and rice. Absolutely delicious. Me? I ate a little ball of it every day til it was gone. Yummy. And the Homemade Almond Milk.

Salted Caramel Ice Cream The addition of the crun Salted Caramel Ice Cream

The addition of the crunchy hand-mined fleur de sel on the top elevates the taste over the top of any salted caramel ice cream bar! As well as the silken creamy texture, it held the freeze well. The addition of the salted caramel sauce was too decadent for words. No need for words when savoring this luxurious, velvet-sweet-salty-sumptuous reprieve amid a hot summer day. M-m-m-m-m…
