Valerie is Cooking in the Kitchen with….? You are invited! PARTICIPATE!
Some women like to shop together for an afternoon or a day. Others like to go for luncheons. Some like to spend the day in a gym or at the spa. Me? If I had my druthers, my ultimate favourite way to spend a day with a friend is cooking in my kitchen! Or, as above, with my mom! Thus, Project 2017: Valerie is Cooking in the Kitchen with…?
So, it is all about me, and it is all about us! Certainly “Valerie is Cooking in the Kitchen with…” is going to be the highlight of my week and month. The project will align seamlessly with what A Canadian Foodie is all about: regional Canadian foraged, gardened, farmed, or wild food; Canadian traditional or heritage favourite family recipes. Allan Suddaby, above left, is one of my favourite people to cook in my kitchen and Kevin Kossowan, above right, is another. Both local food heroes. No question about it.
Cooking in the Kitchen with Nadja in February inspired this project and she is, therefore, the first participant in the project.
To get started, I invited some of my blogging and personal friends and chefs to participate. I have already booked in some of them. I have yet to find a mutual date with others. And, still others are on my list to invite. I remember the fun I had learning how to make macarons from Connie….oh, so many years ago! However, I hope to have another session coming soon, with Lillian! I can be a slow learner!
As well, there is opportunity for my readers to cook with me. This will likely be my favourite part as we will meet over food cooking in the kitchen, together! That is almost how I met Margaret... instead, she answered an invitation to attend a Fruit Cake Tasting here one year, and brought her fruit cake to add to the mix! It takes courage to meet a like-minded friend, but once you take the leap, it is so gratifying!

What a fabulous project! I would come and cook in your kitchen if we lived closer. Looking forward to reading the posts.
You know, Liliana, that was on my bucket list – to cook with you when I was down East… but it just didn’t work out. I couldn’t make it to the conference and when I was there, for another one, our schedule was so tight, we couldn’t even enjoy the experience.
I would LOVE to cook with you, too!
