    • Associate Leader of Slow Food Edmonton
    • Director of the Alberta Culinary Tourism Alliance
    • Founder of Eat Alberta
    • Owner of Taste Tripping: Culinary Tours, Travel and Cooking Classes

What I write about: please take some time to take a look at my Home page

  • I have two menu bars: one in black at the top that is the main menu bar
  • The green menu bar contains all of my recipes

What I will likely write about:

This is a cooking site, first and foremost. I love to cook and prepare food for my family and friends.

  • Canadian food: heritage recipes or traditions, food events and regional food culture across our country
  • Alberta prairie food: as I prepare it for my family, daily
  • Special local food: related events in the Edmonton area
  • Culinary food education: and cooking with kids
  • Food Sovereignty, sustainability, and stewardship

Other interests:

  • I love tastings, so judging any food event is something I adore: type “judging” into the search window on my home page to read about some of my judging experiences
  • I am hooked on learning from others who write great food blogs, so “judging” the work and writing of others within the context of community building and providing accolades to those who deserve it is right up my alley
  • I am interested in promoting my city, and any local and provincial food events, so appreciate invitations to openings: look under “events” in the top black menu on the homepage to read my reviews and promotions
  • I garden: I grow and preserve food on my urban lot
  • I travel: I attend cooking classes and write about my travel experiences: look under “travel” in the top black menu on the homepage to find out where I have been
  • Farmer’s Markets are my favourite places to shop and I have been to many all over the world: look under “travel” in the top black menu on the homepage and select “Farmer’s Markets” if this interests you

What I would be interested in discussing:

  • Culinary gadgets, cookware and appliances
  • Photography and video gear
  • Book Reviews related to my food philosophy
  • Canadian Chef Challenges

In your Nuts & Bolts recipe you say you can no longer get Rice Chex in Canada, they are available at Sobey’s, I buy them every year and put them in my Nuts & Bolts.

    Cheers

    Hello Valerie:
I came across your site looking for diastolic powder and thanks to your blog was able to make my own. I found great organic barley from Fieldstone Grainery in Armstrong BC (I shopped there a lot when I still lived in BC and got my KOMO flour mill and oat flaker from them and know them well). The sprouting and dehydrating (I have a Sedona dehydrator) worked very well so now I am ready to bake baguettes. Thank you for all your help. The one thing that intrigued me in your pictures is that you feature a “Wecks” jar. Do you have a local source for buying them? I have been getting some in the US while living in BC. I look forward to hearing from you.
    Cheers
    Brigitta

Great, Brigitta!I get the Wecks jars from Crate and Barrell. They usually have a fabulous assortment every fall. 🙂 Valerie
