A Canadian Foodie Wins The Yeggies Best in Food for 2013

June 4, 2014 by Valerie Lugonja 14 Comments

Right from The Yeggies site:

The Edmonton New Media Awards, or the Yeggies, is an annual awards show created to recognize and celebrate outstanding social media content creators in the capital region. It’s an awards show to highlight some of the amazing talent we have here in Edmonton — from people who code websites themselves, to those who write, speak, draw, all on their own time. Yeggies recipients inspire, evoke, inform, educate and entertain us, and they do it because they have a passion for it.

Last year was their first. I wasn’t even nominated. Aw, well.  Karlynn Johnson of The Kitchen Magpie and one of my favourite pals won, and I was over the moon for her.

This year, I was nominated! Woot! That was enough for me. Very nice. Thank you so much!

I was traveling in Cape Breton through the Cabot Trail in the pouring rain through thick fog trying to get reception on my ipad to check on my e-mail and one second there was a ping and a text from Karlynn came in. That was it for a few hours…. She was congratulating me on “my win for The Yeggies Best in Food for 2013! What? Double Woot!

Suddenly, the fog wasn’t there. The rain didn’t matter and the day was wonderful. I could not believe the honour and effect that receiving this award had upon me at this ripe old age. I am still glowing.

When I get my “medal” – yes, apparently there is a medal – I will add a photo of me at the top of the post, wearing it. And I have decided I will wear it to every media event in the future that I am invited to.

Hahahahaha. Well, I would want to.

And there are so many incredible local bloggers in Edmonton. Love my community. Work hard to keep it at the forefront of everything I do and just want to say thank you to the team of judges that did finally decide that it would be me this year.

Happy day, all.

I’ve been busy, busy, busy. Short staffed at work so extra hours there, several sewing projects on the go that fill a lot of any spare time I have and the usual urge to clean and scrub that hits as soon as I can open the door and windows and let the sunshine back into my life. I start in the bathroom, since its the smallest room, and when I get discourages I tell myself “See, you already have one room done.” I know I’m tricking myself but it works. Brendi
